I’ve shared the live edge box in a previous blog post, and I’ve shared the review video also in a previous blog post. This video draws the dotted line between the two. When shooting the video for the review, I wanted some b-roll to add in, but as that video was already over 30 minutes I decided to pull this out as a separate feature.
The video goes through the different operations I used the Box Maker’s Plow Plane for when making the box. The box was mainly an exercise in using the plane, so I did not approach it from the perspective of making a box, but rather using the plane. As such, I didn’t include anything around the process of dimensioning or prepping the stock (it was resawn and run through the thickness sander and cut to length).
The other main thing missing is the stopped rabbet on the ends and the mitered top edge for the rear of the box. They’re not terribly complicated operations, but perhaps if I make another I’ll focus on making of the box rather than use of the plane.
