This installment of the blog sees us go through the final assembly and filling of the watercooling loop.
I sign nearly everything I build/make for modding and woodworking. This one is under the motherboard on the tray part of the chassis. Shhhh, he doesn’t know… (ok, he does know, but he didn’t when I did it 😁).

Mike started out with getting the motherboard, the radiators, and pump+reservoir installed in place. The pump/reservoir/radiator assembly is much easier to put together outside the case, before installing.

After that, we reinstalled the hard drive.

Tight space, but we got the GPU and PSU installed. Everything got plumbed and wired up as well.

Next up we performed a leak test with distilled water for a while, then we drained it and filled it with XSPC white liquid. I’m not a fan, but it’s the look Mike wanted 😃.

Ok, I do have to admit that it does look good. I just usually prefer distilled water and biocide instead of opaque fluids.

Next, we reattached the front (side) button/light cables and I/O board. It sounds simple, but it’s harder than it looks like it should be. It is made a little more annoying because this picture is the maximum length of the cables, and without taking a LOT more apart, you have to reach the plugs near the front side of the case.

The last thing was then to just slide it back in to the outer shell.

That was pretty much where we left it off at this point. In the next post, we’ll be reassembling things and running some liquid through it, so check back for more!
