My son, who is 3, has shown an interest in the shop lately. When I had originally purchased this vintage E.H. Sheldon workbench it sat in my house garage for a few weeks before I moved it out to the workshop. It became a home for table saw parts before I started working on that restoration.
My son expressed that he liked the workbench and asked if it was his workbench. Since the main thing I wanted was the planing stop (because I’m not a collector, who’s a collector), I agreed.
In this video, I built a new base for that workbench (as well as update things in the shop), and it has since been repurposed to be his little workbench. He’s used it a fair bit, and we’ve cut some scraps and drilled a lot of holes. He even recently learned how to use a spoke pointer with tenon cutter and wants to make his own shop stool! We’ll see when we can make that happen, but for now he’s excited to have his own workbench.
I did eventually end up making a new 1″ thick pine top for the old base, getting that all fixed up, and am currently using it as an inside work table for various Mosquito Made tasks, such as screen printing, heat transfers, electro-etching, order packing, etc.
Anyway, thanks for checking it out!
